Privacy
Last updated: 26/10/2026
We collect as little personal data as we can, and we only use it for the reason you gave it to us. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Who is responsible
Social Progress Institute for Europe SRL,Drève Pittoresque 143, 1180, Brussels, Belgium, enterprise number [BE1023321789], is the controller of your personal data. For any privacy question, write to hello@spi-eu.org.
What we collect and why
If you email us: your name, email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it to reply. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering messages sent to us.
If you subscribe to our newsletter: subscriptions are handled by Substack, not by us directly. Substack collects your email address and treats it under its own privacy policy. We can see the list of our subscribers. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of every email.
When you visit this site: we use Framer’s built-in visitor statistics, which count visits and pages viewed without cookies or persistent identifiers. We cannot identify you from them.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of services to run the site and our email, which process data on our behalf:
Framer (the Netherlands): hosts the website and receives form submissions.
Google (Google Workspace): our email[, and a Google Sheet where form submissions are stored].
Substack (United States): our newsletter and blog.
Where data leaves the European Economic Area, as with Substack and some Google services, it is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Emails: for as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up.
Your rights
You can ask us to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or give you a copy in a usable format. You can object to our use of it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before. Just email [privacy@spi-eu.org]; we will reply within a month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be), though we would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies for tracking or advertising. Embedded content, such as a Substack signup box, may set its own cookies when you use it.
Changes
If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
