The Social Progress Institute for Europe (SPIEU) is an independent think tank, founded in Brussels in 2026.
Our Mission
We help European governments, businesses and civil society move towards a political and economic model that puts social progress first. That means giving them practical ways to measure what matters in people's lives, beyond gross domestic product (GDP), and helping them act on what they find.
Our Vision
A Europe where social progress sits at the centre of political, policy and business decisions.
Why business, why now
Europe has spent nearly twenty years arguing that growth figures alone don't tell us how people are doing. Governments now have better tools for this, even if they don't always use them. Companies mostly don't have them at all.
